Science-backed benefits of meditation are varied and numerous. The consistent practice of meditation has a positive impact on the physical, mental and emotional health.

When we experience stress, inflammatory chemicals called cytokines are released in the body as a response. This can affect mood which could contribute to depression. In an 8-week Elsevier study, meditation reduced the inflammation response caused by stress.

By practising meditation consistently, it reduces negative thoughts and increases positive self-perceptions.

A study found that people who consistently practiced meditation experienced fewer negative thoughts in response to viewing negative images.
