1 What is Neurolinguistic Kinesiology (NLK) balancing?
Neurolinguistic Kinesiology, or NLK, is a powerful, holistic method that helps you unlock your body’s natural ability to achieve balance and well-being. By blending neurolinguistics (how thoughts and words shape your mind) with kinesiology (the study of body movement and muscle responses), NLK supports emotional, mental, and physical health. Think of it as a way to “listen” to your body and mind, uncover what’s holding you back, and create positive change. Kinesiology combines Western and Eastern healing principles to promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
2 How does Neurolinguistic Kinesiology work?
NLK uses gentle, non-invasive techniques like muscle testing to understand how your body responds to stress, emotions, or specific thoughts. Kinesiology uses muscle testing as a biofeedback mechanism into the mind-body system. It identifies imbalances or blocks by observing these responses. Then, through methods like stress release techniques, guided visualisations, relaxation exercises or targeted movements, NLK helps you rewire your mind and body to feel calmer, more confident and in control. For example, if you’re struggling with anxiety or depression, NLK can pinpoint hidden stress in your body and guide you to release it, helping you think clearly and feel better.

3 How neurolinguistic kinesiology can help?
NLK helps you rewire your mind and body to feel calmer, more confident, and in control.
It offers a range of benefits to improve your overall well-being:
• Reduce Stress and Anxiety: Calm your mind and body to better handle life’s challenges with NLK therapy.
• Boost Confidence: Shift negative thought patterns to foster a positive mindset.
• Improve Emotional and Physical Balance: Strengthen the mind-body connection for better health.
• Achieve Your Goals: Overcome mental blocks to unlock your full potential with Neurolinguistic Kinesiology
Kinesiology balancing can support you on many levels – psychological, emotional and physical. For a wide range of examples, please refer to Explore
One of the techniques used in NLK is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) which has been proven by science with over 100+ studies in alleviating stress and improving wellbeing. Read the full article in EFT section of website
4 What is muscle testing?
Kinesiology uses muscle testing as a biofeedback mechanism into the mind-body system. Using muscle testing, we gain feedback on how your body and mind are responding. Muscle testing is non-invasive assessment and low risk way to explore health concerns – like a mechanic taps a tire to hear if it’s flat, this is using a muscle that’s directly connected to your nervous system.
Muscle testing works on the nervous system like a built-in stress detector or stress meter. The nervous system is the body’s bio-computer and acts as a communication network. If there’s a hidden stressor or imbalance, like a glitch in the circuit – it sends a signal through the nervous system. The nervous system is what lets your body “talk” during muscle testing, showing what’s really going on beneath the surface through your muscle response.
The anterior deltoid muscle is used as an indicator muscle to gain information about the sensory motor pathway or the loop between the brain and body. It can be used to establish whether a situation, activity, memory etc. is causing stress and/or imbalance to the mind-body system. It bypasses conscious thinking processes for mental, emotional, physical imbalances and the appropriate corrective treatments to apply.
5 How is muscle testing conducted?
Client extends and hold their arm at 45° whilst gentle pressure is applied to the wrist. The kinesiologist looks for subtle changes in the client’s muscle response to determine the most appropriate balancing therapy needed.
6 What happens in a session and what can I expect?
Each session is tailored to the individual needs of the client. I begin the session by explaining what kinesiology is and how it works to support mind, body and spirit as well as showing you how muscle testing works to gain biofeedback. We briefly discuss what is going on in your life at the moment and what you would like to focus on.
Each session involves the use of muscle testing to identify imbalances and ways of restoring balance to the mind-body system. Kinesiology uses a variety of energy based balancing techniques such as meridian acupressure, chakra and aura clearing, neuro-lymphatic and neurovascular energy points, stress-release techniques, neurological repatterning, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), guided imagery/visualisation and colour therapy.
At the end of the session, we review and discuss how to move forward with simple self-care practices to complete at home which will continue to support fully integrating the changes in the brain-body system.
Sessions are relaxing, tailored to you, and completely non-invasive—no two sessions are the same!
7 What outcomes can I expect from a session?
This varies from individual to individual and nature of the issue. Based on client’s feedback of their experience, they experienced a greater sense of calm and lightness, renewed awareness and a sense of empowerment. Sometimes as the client works through the issues, it can temporarily bring to the surface less comfortable feelings to work its way through.
By addressing imbalances in the mind-body system, clients often report many benefits that are not just limited to the issue worked on. Often there’s a positive ripple effect that benefit other areas of life such as relationships, capabilities, confidence and work life balance.
8 Is NLK therapy safe?
Yes, NLK is generally considered safe for most people. It’s a gentle, non-invasive therapy that doesn’t involve drugs, surgery or intense physical manipulation. It emphasizes creating a calm and supportive space, making it suitable for all ages, including kids and seniors.
9 How long does a session take?
First consultations are 90 minutes as we take time to discuss what you would like to work on. Follow up sessions are 60 minutes.
10 How should I prepare for my session?
Our body is made up of 60-70% of water. Hydration helps energy flow and it’s useful to drink adequate amount of water before and after the session.
11 How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required depends on the nature of the issue, the complexity and severity of the issue being addressed. This also varies from individual to individual based on the nature of the issue. For best results, we suggest a minimum of three sessions over 40-48 days apart aligned to our body’s natural physiological cycle to work through the issue as the body balances in layers and allows time for integration in the brain-body system.
12 Directly following a session, what should I anticipate?
This varies from individual to individual and nature of the issue. Based on client’s feedback of their experience, directly following a session, they commonly experience tiredness and thirst. This is expected as the body releases stressors/ imprints and rest enables the body to heal further. As our body is 70% water, energy needs to flow following a session and ensuring adequate hydration is beneficial. It is important to listen to your body and respond as needed.
13 How does my treatment affect my need to see my GP or other health care provider?
Kinesiology is a complementary holistic therapy, we do not diagnose, treat or prescribe named diseases but we can assist with identifying and resolving underlying contributing factors by balancing the body’s energy systems to improve overall well-being. Kinesiology has an holistic approach and will not focus only on symptoms and it can be used to complement medical treatments.
14 Will my session be covered by private health insurance/ health fund rebates (Australia based only)?
Government changes to health fund rebates in April 2019 excludes a wide range of health modalities including kinesiology.
15 What do I wear to a session?
Kinesiology is done fully clothed, it would be useful to wear comfortable clothing that allows your arms and legs to be moved into different positions (where possible) for muscle testing and treatments while sitting or lying down.
Online balancing
16 Is there a difference in terms of efficacy between face-to-face balancing and online balancing?
Energy frequencies knows no boundaries. Based on the new science of quantum physics, we know that energy is not confined and can therefore be transferred using intention and energetic transmission between client and practitioner most effectively. Whether attending a session face to face or online, clients can experience the wonderful benefits of kinesiology balancing.
One of the techniques used in Kinesiology is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping, which has been scientifically proven to alleviate stress and improve wellbeing. Backed by over 100+ studies, EFT therapy has been proven to be delivered in person or online with maximum efficacy. Read full article in the EFT section of the website.
17 What do I need for an online session?
You can use any device with camera enabled and a stable internet connection.
You would need a quiet and comfortable space without interruption for the session. It would be useful to be seated on a chair with back support. Using a headset, earphones or speaker will be useful so that your hands are free during the session.
18 How is muscle testing conducted for online sessions?
Whilst face to face balancing tests the client’s muscle response directly, for online balancing I act as a conduit to self-muscle test for your energetic responses. Energy frequencies knows no boundaries.
